Midazolam
Midazolam hydrochloride are 15mg of
8-chloro-6-(2-fluorophenyl)-1-methyl-4h-imidazo(1,5-a)(1,4)benzodiazepine

Midazolam is a short-acting benzodiazepine central nervous system (CNS) depressant. This drug is unique from others in this class due to its rapid onset of effects and short duration of action.

Chemical Structure
midazolam
Drug Class
Benzodiazepine: sedative-hypnotics
Mechanisms of action
Midazolam exerts its effect by binding to the benzodiazepine receptor at the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor-chloride ionophore complex in the central nervous system (CNS). This leads to an increase in the opening of chloride channels, membrane hyperpolarization and increases the inhibitory effect of GABA in the CNS.
Midazolam may also interfere with the reuptake of GABA, thereby causing accumulation of GABA in the synaptic cleft.
