Mechanisms of action
Bupropion is a reuptake inhibitor and releasing agent of both norepinephrine and dopamine therefore increasing the firing of POMC neurons, Naltrexone blocks the POMC feedback inhibition that would halt appite suppression provided by Bupropion, thereby augmenting bupropion-stimulated POMC activation of these anorexigenic pathways, resulting in prolonged appetite reduction.
